Lake Powell, one of the West's great boating and recreational treasures, was certified free of the invasive zebra and quagga mussels on Aug. 23. 
Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding have hampered park operations at Canyon de Chelly National Monument in northeast Arizona since the 2010 monsoon season started several weeks ago, and have impacted visitor attendance.
It is the peak summer season at Glacier National Park and that means an increased chance of people encountering black bears, grizzly bears and other wildlife both on park trails and roads. Rangers ask visitors to be extra cautious while in the park.
Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah has reopened the popular Wall Street section of the Navajo Loop Trail which was closed back in April 2010 due to falling rocks.
Visitors to Glacier National Park will find a series of new exhibits to explore that focus on Native American history and cultural experiences connected to the area in and around the park.
