Shane Hanchey wanted a gold buckle so badly, he figured to be nervous before the 10th and final round of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo Saturday night, Dec. 14, 2013. But the 24-year-old showed how calm - and confident - he was by winking and smiling to the crowd during the opening.

"It was just another round for me," said Hanchey, who was competing at his fourth Wrangler NFR, although it was before a record crowd of 18,242.

That gritty, confident cowboy who won a share of Round 9 Friday night at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo being held in Las Vegas, Nevada  is now known as four-time World Champion Bull Rider J.W. Harris. For the 27-year-old Texan, it is mission accomplished.

Scott Kormos didn't expect to share a celebratory cry with his wife, Laine, on July 28, 2013 when the veteran tie-down roper began the final round of the 117th annual Cheyenne Frontier Days buried in eighth place.

And he still didn't expect too much after his terrific 12.4-second run that wowed the big crowd at Frontier Park Arena. But his three-head average of 39.5 seconds stood up, a mere four-tenths of a second ahead of runner-up Stetson Vest, who began the finals in 11th place.

The final count down is underway for the 117th annual Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration, 10 days of thrills and excitement that includes Championship Bull Riding, Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo stars and a top lineup of country music's biggest stars including Toby Keith.

The Decatur, Texas, cowboy clinched his record 10th all-around gold buckle during the fifth round of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo on Monday night, Dec. 10, 2012, in Las Vegas thanks to a third-place go-round finish in team roping.

Cheyenne Frontier Days 2013 will offer fans a top lineup of country music's biggest stars, Championship Bull Riding, 10 days of rodeo with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association, and plenty of thrills and excitement.

Lady Antebellum, Dwight Yoakam, Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean and Toby Keith each will headline a night of the world's largest outdoor rodeo and Western celebration, which runs July 19-28, 2013, Cheyenne Frontier Days' general committee announced Nov. 8.

Cheyenne Frontier Days, the world's largest outdoor rodeo and Western celebration, will celebrate its 116th Annual extravaganza from July 20 to July 29, 2012 with plenty of food, fun and excitement, including evening entertainment from some of Country Western's biggest stars.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo gets underway Feb. 28, 2012 and organizers of the charity extravaganza promise the best celebration yet for visitors and rodeo fans.

Marking its 80th year, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will run through March 18 and has plenty of entertainment and activities for the whole family.

Trevor Brazile once again is the World Champion All-Around Cowboy.

Brazile clinched his record ninth world all-around championship and his 16th gold buckle overall on Dec. 4, 2012, which ties him with Jim Shoulders for second all-time in ProRodeo history. Only steer roper Guy Allen (with 18) has more.

Five of rodeo's legends were inducted July 17, 2010 into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame and the ceremony had the feel of a family reunion.

Honored for their achievements were Paul Mayo, a two-time world champion and an innovator in the style of bareback riding that is still used today; 1974 world champion saddle bronc rider John McBeth, three-time National Finals Rodeo bull riding champion Denny Flynn, bullfighter Rex Dunn and third-generation stock contractor Bennie Beutler.
