The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo gets underway Feb. 28, 2012 and organizers of the charity extravaganza promise the best celebration yet for visitors and rodeo fans.

Marking its 80th year, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will run through March 18 and has plenty of entertainment and activities for the whole family.

The Downtown Rodeo Parade and ConocoPhillips Rodeo Run is set for Feb. 25.

Decorative floats intermingle with thousands of men and women on horseback to join Houston's skyscrapers and freeways and fill the streets with hoof beats and marching bands. Enthusiastic Houstonians join out-of-town spectators to line the streets and sidewalks to be involved in one of Houston's most popular celebrations!

And while you're at it, don't miss the World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, set for Feb. 23-25.

This year's entertainment lineup offers some of the best performers on today's stage.

Alabama will entertain the crowds on Feb, 28, while Big Time Rush will perform March 4. Up next will be the Zac Brown Band on March 12, while Brad Paisley will wow the crowd on March 17.

The Houston Livestock Show is always a big attraction. It is the largest in the world and holds the records in all junior market auction categories.

The livestock show sees nearly 27,000 entries annually, and holds the record price for all junior market animals at auction. Each year, almost every species of livestock fill Reliant Park. The show also promotes the wine industry with its International Wine Competition, which draws more than 2,000 entries from more than 700 wineries around the world.

But perhaps it's RodeoHouston that draws the attraction of many visitors each year.

In addition to the action-packed rodeo, there is the ever-entertaining calf scramble, thrilling chuck wagon races, heart-warming mutton bustin' and superstar concerts.

This year's rodeo features seven events: bareback riding, barrel racing, bull riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping and tie-down roping.

With eight center video screens and a state-of-the-art audio system, there's not a bad seat in Reliant Stadium.
