Just because Labor Day weekend 2009 is now history, there's no reason to put the camping gear back in storage. There's still plenty of fall camping activities and special events available to campers at campgrounds and RV parks in the West, even into early November.

"There are scores of family oriented activities and themed weekends stretching well into fall," Linda Profaizer, president and CEO of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds said. The organization hosts an online booking Web site at
www.gocampingamerica.com.

Profaizer added that private park owners have recognized that they can stretch their season well into fall if they offer their guests enough entertainment to draw them back.

And the activities aren't limited to parks affiliated with the Kampgrounds of America (KOA) and Yogi Bear Jellystone Park Camp Resort chains, which are well known for their family friendly activities. Many independent parks have fall activities, pre-Halloween and Oktoberfest celebrations and other special events in the works.

Here's a sampling of family friendly activities that independently owned and operated campgrounds and RV parks (many in California) are providing during the coming weeks.
