Portland Perks Up Spring With Gift Cards for Early Birds

Portland, Oregon is offering special deals for visiting the city this spring if you book through the Travel Portland Web site

For a limited time at select Portland Perks' hotels, visitors who book a hotel room (minimum two-night stay required) through the Travel Portland Web site will receive a $75 American Express Gift Card upon check-in. The gift card can be used for dining, shopping or other purchases at any business that accepts American Express. 

To receive a gift card, visitors must book their stays at participating Perks' hotels before May 28 for travel that concludes on or before May 31, 2009 (cards are valid for use after May 31).

In addition to Portland Perks, the deals section of Travel Portland's Web site has been redesigned to cluster hotel packages and offers into special-interest groups. Among the types of travel featured are green/sustainable, culinary, girlfriend getaways, LGBT and many more.

The new Portland Perks program also includes complimentary continental breakfast for two each morning, free parking (an average savings of $25 per night at Portland's downtown hotels), and dozens of discounts at dining, shopping, arts and entertainment establishments.

The Portland Perks coupon book, which guests receive at check-in, encompasses a wide range of discounts, including:

  • Two-for-one entrees at Saucebox restaurant and Thirst Wine Bar & Bistro.
  • Twenty percent off purchases at Columbia Sportswear.
  • A free chocolate-tasting kit from Cacao.
  • Two-for-one admission at the Oregon Historical Society, Pittock Mansion, Portland Classical Chinese Garden and Portland Art Museum.
  • Two-for-one tickets to Artists Repertory Theatre, Portland Center Stage, Oregon Symphony and NW Film Center.

JetBlue Expands Promise Program to Include Getaways Packages
JetBlue Airways said it is expanding The JetBlue Promise Program to include Getaways vacation packages, honoring a full refund to anyone who experiences involuntary full-time job loss prior to their trip.

JetBlue said it is expanding the program to allow customers to take advantage of great advance travel deals and provide assurance to customers interested in booking vacation packages and air travel.

Now both JetBlue flights and hotel packages arranged through the airline's Getaways program may be covered.

"Our Promise Program came at just the right time for some of our customers to take advantage of it and we're happy to be in a position to offer it to those who want the added confidence to book their vacations," said Robin Hayes, executive vice president and chief commercial officer for JetBlue Airways. "This commitment is part of the DNA of our company and aligns with our core values, including caring for our customers."

Customers who book JetBlue Getaways vacation packages now through June 1, 2009 with travel scheduled for any time through the airline's current for-sale schedule and who lose their job on or after March 17 may be eligible for The JetBlue Getaways Promise Program.

Customers must notify JetBlue and request a full refund at least 14 days prior to the first date of travel. For packages that include travel or hotel stay on Nov. 25-28, 2009 or Dec. 17, 2009-Jan. 2, 2010, request for a refund must be received by fax no later than 60 days prior to the scheduled departure date of the outbound flights.
