Branson Begins an ‘Ozark Mountain Spring' Celebration

Spring officially begins March 20, and with it Branson, Missouri is offering visitors its ‘Ozark Mountain Spring' celebration with more than 40 special events and festivals in March, April and May.

"Branson's celebrating 50 years of Live Music Shows," said Urban Cowboy and Country Music Legend Mickey Gilley. "In 50 years, Branson has expanded from my favorite country music to rock ‘n' roll, pop, comedy, Broadway, gospel, Big Band, magic shows, acrobats and more. What Branson has done in 50 years is truly remarkable!"

Ozark Mountain Spring's full calendar will feature widely-varied events, from the thrill of the NAIA national college basketball tournament to one of the nation's largest air shows.

From collector car auctions to culinary demonstrations, from the Wal-Mart/FLW bass tournament to the International folk music and cuisines of World-Fest, Spring is the perfect time to experience all the Branson/Lakes Area has to offer.

New and especially exciting for 2009 is the Great American Pie Show, featuring NBC's Al Roker as a celebrity judge; it will be held April 24-25 at the Branson Convention Center. Culinary events such as this are popular nationwide, and Taste of Home magazine's cooking demonstrations will also be a part of the festivities that weekend.

"Those of us who live here know that Branson has so many great places to eat," said Dino Kartsonakis, grand pianist, entertainer and owner of Dino's 24 Karrot Cake Company. "We're thrilled that the Great American Pie Show and the activities that accompany it will help spread that word to others."

Special events are planned each week during Ozark Mountain Spring, including Kewpiesta at Rose O'Neill's beloved Bonniebrook and Silver Dollar City's Bluegrass & BBQ Festival.

Visitors can choose from more than 100 different shows in 52 state-of-the-art theaters ranging from intimate 50-seat show rooms to 4,000-seat indoor theatrical palaces. The live shows in Branson appeal to visitors of all ages with music from nearly every era and style performed by rising young entertainers and legendary stars.
