Laughlin River Stampede Promises Lots of Rodeo Action

The 15th annual Laughlin River Stampede gets underway March 26-29, and the four-day event will feature some of America's best cowboys and cowgirls competing in fast-paced, spine-tingling events for more than $225,000 in prize money.

Set in Laughlin, Nevada, the state's resort town on the Colorado River, the Stampede features plenty of rodeo action, such as barrel racing, bareback and bull riding, and team roping. There will also be an appearance by Miss Rodeo America, rodeo displays, merchandise, crafts and food.

Additionally, various Laughlin hotels plan to offer top-name country music entertainment in the evening to enhance the rodeo experience.

The Laughlin River Stampede is ranked in the top 30 among more than 700 rodeos sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) nationwide
each year. In fact, the only difference between the Laughlin River Stampede and the lauded National Finals Rodeo is the ticket price, according to event promoter Roy Honeycutt.

"Spectators will see the very same PRCA contestants, competing for almost a quarter of a million dollars in the same traditional events," he said. "The only difference is that Laughlin tickets are easy to get and cost a whole lot less!"

Laughlin is a favorite among the cowboys and cowgirls, many of whom have attended the Colorado River event for almost a decade, filling up affordable hotel rooms and kicking up their heels in the resorts and lounges. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. and the rodeo begins at 1:30 p.m.

Ticket Prices: Thursday: Super Chute, $35; Gen Adm, $13; Seniors 55+, $7; Children under 12, $7 Friday, Saturday & Sunday: Super Chute, $35; Gen Adm, $25; Children Under 12, $7 (no Senior discounts available)
